Waiting by the door for visitation with my biological father was always a unique experience. Sometimes there would be a knock. Other times, just a phone call. Each one meant something different. I was always hopeful for the knock, even when I knew it wouldn’t come. Over time, the waiting wore me down until one day, I stopped caring altogether.
