A series of 32 (11 x 14 inch) screen printed portraits displaying a paint can labeled black pain with various words written in red. Displayed in an 8 by 4 arrangement, these cans represent the diverse yet collective experiences of pain within the Black community. Each person’s pain may differ in form and intensity, but all of it is valid and deserving of understanding. This work challenges viewers to recognize the universality of suffering while honoring its individual expression, free from judgment, comparison, or dismissal.
